Tenaris awards $112,000 in Roberto Rocca scholarships to 45 Mississippi County students

The awards ceremony, held at Arkansas Northeastern College, included the presentation of a $20,000 Student of the Year scholarship, four Student of the Year runners-up scholarships of $3,000 each, and 40 Merit Awards at $2,000 each. 

“It’s a privilege to recognize these students who have exemplified outstanding academic achievement and leadership both in the classroom and within their communities,” said Luis Reyes, Senior Director of Operations at Tenaris’s Hickman facility. “Tenaris is proud to support these students as they pursue the next stage of their academic and professional development.”

Anna Claire Smith from Gosnell High School was named the 2025 Student of the Year, receiving the $20,000 scholarship payable over four years. Smith plans to attend Harding University and is seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

The four Student of the Year runners-up and 40 Merit Award winners were recognized for their outstanding academic performance at their respective schools, including Armorel, Blytheville, Gosnell, KIPP, Manila, Osceola and Rivercrest high schools. 

Katie Beth Walker, Tenaris 2017 Merit Award recipient spoke at this year’s ceremony. “Thanks to Tenaris, I was able to fund my undergraduate education without any debt, which lifted a huge weight off my shoulders,” she said. “But beyond the financial support, receiving this scholarship gave me something just as valuable – confidence. It reassured me that others believed in me, and it gave me the courage to believe in myself.”

Promoting education through scholarships for Mississippi County students continues to be a priority for Tenaris, investing $4.1 million on education-based programs, including 219 scholarships. First introduced in Arkansas in the 2014-2015 school year, the Roberto Rocca Scholarship Award is one of Tenaris’s longest running global community programs.
